Indiana University’s P-16 Center for Research and Collaboration is partnering with Title VI Area Studies Centers on this exciting professional development opportunity for middle and high school social studies teachers.

In this workshop, subject-matter specialists from IU-Bloomington’s Title VI Area Studies Centers will present content related to the theme of Global Exploration, Conquest, and Imperialism.  The presentations will connect the theme with Social Studies Standards for Civics and Government, World History, and Geography. A teaching methods specialist will provide creative teaching ideas for your social studies course.


Highlights of the Workshop

 Hear experts on Russia/Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central/Inner Asia, East Asia.

  Learn research-based instructional practices.

  Come away with solid content knowledge and classroom-tested techniques.

  Use resources developed by IU's nationally recognized area studies faculty. 

  Focus on Global Exploration, Conquest, and Imperialism theme across the Social Studies Standards
